An Outdoor Learning Environments Institute for
Early Childhood Educators
Co-sponsored by Smart Start of Buncombe County and
The NC Arboretum.
This 2-day, interactive Institute is intended for early childhood professionals whose programs are located in the following counties: Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and the Cherokee Reservation.
The Institute will offer a range of hands-on outdoor sessions provided by leaders in the field on:
- Developmentally appropriate activities for outdoor learning environments;
- Simple outdoor learning environment enhancements; and
- Regulatory requirements related to outdoor learning environments and the feasibility of meeting those requirements while facilitating children's play and learning outdoors.
