Outdoor Play Ideas - Winter
Frozen Bubbles
When it’s 32 degrees or below outside you can freeze bubbles! Dress warmly and take bubbles and wands outside. Have your child blow a bubble and catch it on the wand. Wait and watch as it freezes. It will turn into a crystal ball and then shatter. Now look at the crystal forms with her.
Vegetable Top Garden
Bring a little nature inside during the winter months. Cut off the tops of large carrots, radishes, beets and/or turnips. Have your child fill an aluminum pie plate with small stones or pebbles and place the vegetables cut side down on top of the pebbles and add water to just cover the bottom of each piece. Place the plate in direct sun and water as needed. You should see greenery sprouting from the tops of the cut vegetables within a week.
Snow Painting
When there’s a little snow on the ground, add some water and food coloring to a few water bottles with squirt tops. Now bundle up the family and head outside for some fun spray painting in the snow!
