Public Education Campaign2006-2007 Allocation: $66,800 Organization: Big Bridge, Inc. The focus of the campaign will be twofold: 1) to increase community awareness of Smart Start funded activities and 2) to educate families with children 0-5 regarding their role as first educators and the importance of supporting children's school readiness. The campaign will provide information on Smart Start of Buncombe County's funded activities and how to access them. The campaign will also provide families with information on school readiness events and strategies. Strategies for families included in, Foundations, Early Learning Standards for North Carolina Preschoolers and Strategies for Guiding Their Success will be promoted and school-based events such as kindergarten open houses, orientation nights, and registration days may be highlighted in the spring phase of the campaign. The direct service provider will develop a range of multi-media tools to deliver the campaign in addition to taking advantage of existing tools available through NCPC. A Smart Start Board committee will play an advisory role to the direct service provider assisting with identifying the most appropriate venues and media tools for each of the identified areas and providing feedback on products developed.
