Programs: Sustaining Facility Quality -
Individual Incentives
Childcare caregivers and directors will receive grants for one, two or three criteria achievements as specified by Smart Start. These specified criteria are (1) early child development educational attainment, (2) teaching of children with special needs in Star 3,4,5 or nationally accredited facilities, and/or (3) continuance of care within the same childcare facility for a specific number of months per incentive award and limited to specific levels of education. Caregivers and directors who meet specific assigned educational levels/degrees and/or required related courses toward the Early Child Development Degree will be eligible for the grants. Additionally each quarter, eligible caregivers in Star 3,4,5 facilities who teach children with special needs/developmental delays (IEP/IFSP's) classified as non-permanent delays will receive an estimated $25 incentive per quarter in addition to their educational attainment and continuance of care incentive. Caregivers who teach children with a permanent special needs diagnosis will receive an estimated $100 per quarter, per assigned classroom teacher. For caregivers of children with both non-permanent and permanent diagnosis, the higher rate will be paid. Caregivers and/or directors may receive individual incentives even though their employer may not be participating in the Sustaining Facility Quality — Facility Incentives activity. Checks will be written to the incentive eligible individual teacher/director quarterly.
