Child Care Health Consultants will provide health and safety consultation, on site education for childcare providers, and immunization record compliance oversight.

More at Four Pre-Kindergarten Program
Program operated by: Smart Start of Buncombe County
More at Four is a free, high quality pre-kindergarten program for eligible children who turn 4 by August 31 of the school year. More at Four is offered in private child care programs, public school settings and Head Start classrooms.

Play and Learn Groups
Program operated by: Asheville City Schools Preschool
The Coordinator will nurture, support, and teach families and caregivers to successfully prepare their children for kindergarten through Learning Groups.

Transition to Kindergarten

A Director and part-time Coordinator will promote children's successful transition to kindergarten through staff development, technical assistance, and parent education.

Child Care Quality Enhancement

In partnership with Smart Start, will provide a coordinated quality enhancement program for childcare providers to improve the quality of childcare for children, birth to age five.

Smart Start CCR&R supports quality child care and education services in Buncombe County by providing technical assistance and professional development opportunities to early childhood educators and school-age providers.

Program operated by: Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College
Community college instructors will offer a variety of early childhood education courses to childcare providers, directors and students interested in pursuing a career in early childhood education/care.

Sustaining Facility Quality — Facility Incentives
Program operated by: Smart Start of Buncombe County
Provide participating eligible, regulated childcare centers and homes with monetary incentives, based upon specific designated criteria, to sustain the high quality of childcare already achieved and to build capacity within the childcare system for children age 0-5.

Child Care Subsidy
Program operated by: Department of Social Services
Buncombe County Child Care Services, which is the local purchaser of subsidized child care for the Division of Child Development, reimburses Star-rated child care providers through a systematic approach.
